MOVE ME POETRY — A POETRY COMMUNITY LIKE NO OTHER

Darkness

…cloaks us both

We are like two trees
standing centuries apart

sharing the same moon
sighing together each dawn

drenched by summer rains
trembling as our leaves fall

winter strips us bare
and wind gives rise to our song

darkness cloaks us both
and our branches can’t quite reach

but deep underground
we have sought each other out

our roots entangled
no beginning and no end

like secret lovers
clinging fast to each other
in the dark and the shadows
