…as the dark veils fall
There was a time
when your soul met mine
and we flowed together
when I cleaved to you
and you enveloped me
in a surge
towards the open sea
the horizon was no limit
for we were boundless and free
yearning
to be carried away
to tumble
under endless skies
me into you, you into me
in the vastness of the ocean
into which
we finally fell
and in the relentless pull
of the ebb and flow
we were lost to each other
I watched you drifting away
the tides
continually shifting
as we moved further apart
our paths diverging
two ships
passing in the dark
my heart was beating
at a frantic pace
like the wings
of a tiny bird
caught in a wild wind
the deep pain of parting
now in my dreams
I still search for you
but you are ever out of reach
I am consumed
by memories
and sorrow circles me
as the dark veils fall
lost and drowning
in your wake
the waves still surge
and the waves
still break
and their endless sobbing
carries me away
now I find myself alone
drifting
upon these tides of loss
watching
the endless horizon
not understanding
my ever empty arms
