This is incredibly moving Melissa, stand out lines for me are:
'I just live between memories, faded photographs'
This gave me all the feels, loneliness, loss, sorrow, melancholy, I can even picture it in my mind. I have a box of old family photos that I am working my way through getting digital copies of, there are moments of joy looking at those faded images, but always and underlying sorrow too
'somewhere in the distance,
she reads to me,
her last words'
Again, many possible interpretations of this, but sometimes the simplest emotional response is the most powerful. I feel that this line leaves the reader room to insert their own memory, their own moment of reflection
'And maybe, maybe this sensation
is no more pain
but finally, peace'
This section is a perfect ending to a sad poem, an acceptance that we can hold loss in a peaceful part of our soul.
Just lovely - all of it! Thank you so much for sharing this with us here at Move Me!
