…ever be together?
Begging for an answer we ask the question
Will our hearts ever be together?
Or are we destined to drift back and forth
in the endless ebb and flow of time?
….but the distant moon
is lightless and silent
constantly captured by the outgoing tide
we are carried away from each other
over and over and over again
only reunited for brief breathless moments
shifting back and forth in ecstasy
as the rest of the world fades away
denying the inevitable separation
that always comes too soon, too soon for farewells
now a sudden breach in the canopy
falling off the cliff, the adrenaline rush
just before the descent into darkness
we are carried once more, back to sea
heavy with the weight of separation
drowning in our uncertainty
our hearts once full, now devastatingly empty
light as floating feathers
fragile and beautifully broken
we are now our own odyssey
threads of each other, delicately woven
into every heartfelt line of our story
cast adrift in the ethers of time
constantly circling in the indigo
the only sound in the vast abyss
the mournful lament of the crows
our siren songs call softly to one another
we have burned all our bridges
and are endlessly searching in the dark
seeking the ached for union, of our lonely souls
but imprisoned in hope’s dark lace
like a blade, our loss cuts to the core
we cast our shadows into the night
soon fading, into an ocean of black
betting everything and nothing
on the fickle threads of destiny
to navigate us through this tapestry
and to hear our heartfelt lament
Will our hearts ever be together?
Or are we destined to drift back and forth
in the endless ebb and flow of time?
…but the distant moon
remains lightless and silent
